How young can they start?

Interested clients always ask me how early their kids can start doing surf lessons and I always use my 5 year old son as an example.

Lucas is 5 years old and has been riding the white wash and medium waves for the last 2 years. He is getting super good and really confident. If it were not up to my "mommy" fear instincts holding him back, he would probably be out in the line up already.
His new trick is to stand on the board and ride it while bending over and putting his head on the board, pretty talented! Soon he will be giving me pointers on surfing just like he does with my spanish.
Super stoked for the day that we both get to spend our Sundays off surfing away in Costa Rica paradise.

Check us out for lessons specializing in all ages here at Witch's Rock Surf Camp.

Special thanks to Rafa Sandoval

A big PURA VIDA to WRSC Senior Photographer Rafa Sandoval. Rafa has been with Witch's Rock Surf Camp for almost five years. In this time he has learned to be an excellent photographer, a solid surf guide, and an asset to our Guest Relations department. Witch's Rock Surf Camp is very lucky to have Rafa on our team.

Here's an email we just received this morning from a recent guest:

"Hola, please pass this message to Rafael.

Rafa, I must say the pics you took totally rocked. I really didn't appreciate them until I got home. You are so my hero and made me look so good. All my bros are like "no way!"

Thanks again for hooking me up, you are definitely another good reason to stay at WRSC. Tell Joe I said that!
Pura vida and all the best,
Bernardo"

WRSC launches new surf yacht

Hi everyone!

Here at Witch's Rock Surf Camp, everyone is grinning ear to ear. Why? Because we have our new 48 ft. surf yacht moored right here in front of the surf camp in Tamarindo, about ready to depart for two and a half months to the southern zone of Costa Rica!

Click here for rates to reserve your spot on the WRSC Surf Yacht.

On Thursday July 16th the yacht is departing Tamarindo, heading south to the Osa and Burrica Peninsula. This is the southern zone of Costa Rica and across the border into Panama. There are awesome surfing waves including well-known as well as unknown point breaks and reefs/beaches that can only be accessed by boat.

The Zori is a 48 ft. Grand Banks yacht. She has 3 staterooms with sleeping for 8 guests below deck + 2 more on the large folding dinette table. There are two bathrooms, a large galley and saloon area, and TONS of deck space. We are in the process of building a canopy over the aft deck and hanging some hammocks.

Witch's Rock Surf Camp is currently offering guests the opportunity to surf with us in the southern zone, surfing the famous waves of Matapalo and Pavones, as well as dozens of other surf spots. There are some great diving spots. There is also amazing fishing, and we have all of the gear. Our rates for the yacht are $300/person/day including all meals/drinks, accommodations, boat transfers and surfboard rental, and if you've already visited WRSC you get the 10% return discount, which also applies towards booking the yacht.

Give us a call at 1-888-318-SURF to find out if we have space, you can arrive / depart whenever you want, spots are available starting July 21st. I'll be on the boat for a few weeks getting my surf groove on, so come and join me if you can. pura vida- joe walsh

Sunday night 11pm - new WRSC website goes live!

Many thanks to Bruce, Elizabeth, and the whole WRSC Reservations team for helping out as much as they did. We just launched the new website, designed by our buddy Jane Bocker. No, it wasn't one of the website finalists from the vote we held last month. Hell, it wasn't even on the ballot! But when Jane emailed me her concept for the new site, I was like "hey, this is just like the current website, except mo betta!".

So, if you'd like to become aquainted with the new WRSC website, go right ahead. Tomorrow we will add the WRSC Employees page, the Tamarindo tides, plus some hotel room pictures that didn't make it in time tonight. Also, check out the surf tour we're offering to Peru this October, and OF COURSE you gotta check out the new WRSC SURF YACHT.
