Eat @ Joe´s Update

It´s been a year since I got totally in charge of Eat @ Joe´s; no need to say it´s been a journey full of rewarding and frustrating experiences that really have turned my world up side down....yeah, that´s kind of cheesy but what could you expect from me...

Anyways... I´m certainly not a huge fan of self exposure using media people, but after making a lot of thinking on what to put out here, got to admit this is such a great tool to challenge yourself to do new/fun staff...I mean, the better you think run/handle/manage anything, the more confident you become and there´s nothing wrong with being confident, the problem is that suddenly you are stuck in a daily routine, dealing with the same people everyday and feeling pretty good in your well built comfort zone...like there´s nothing else to prove, forgetting about all those resources you have been given that can be used to spice things up and add that extra x factor we'll all need to stand out and survive in this unstoppable competitive world.

- So, What´s going on here??

- As you should know, Pura Vida Health Organic Produce Market and Eat @ Joe´s have partnered up, so every Saturday you can order our organic specials prepared with products such us brown rice, free-range eggs, chemical-free beans and spinach, goat cheese, tomatoes, avocados...so check us out and try the difference!

Eat @ Joe's is no longer packing food to go with foam polystyrene (a.k.a styrofoam), we are using palm fiber containers instead; these are just as useful as the old ones and you can sleep at peace with the idea that they are not going to stay in the ground for at least 100 years waiting for Mother Nature to do something with them.

- Bar / Restaurant Gift Cards: We now have gift cards available for you to surprise your friends, just let us know how much you are willing to give away and we will customize it for you. There´s no way for you to fail with a present like this. - New local advertising: Just got a very cool design for our new flyers. It really summarizes what the restaurant is about in an attractive way.

Well, this is it for now.

I´m sure we will have more news in the following days, I'll keep you informed.

Thanks :)

Help us recycle

Hello world,
can someone please stop by the surf camp and collect our used plastic bottles for recycling? Seriously, the Tamarindo Recycles program said that they couldn't collect it. I heard that the La Paz school would want them as they could make money for their school by recycling them. WRSC unfortunately uses so many plastic bottles, and we're saving them, but we're running out of room.

And if there is no recycling program that can take these, perhaps this means someone should start a recycling program... I'd do it if I didn't have so much going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

WRSC goes green(er)!

As part of a wider project, we’re leading research about sustainability down here. Unless you already know, WRSC has always been trying to think green, this place was built using local resources and materials, the Pura Vida Health Market provides organic products to our restaurant, and we were one of the first to worry about water treatment in Tamarindo and chose alternate solutions.

In the chapter "green energy", last week Joe and I met Jean Luc, chef at Mar y Sol restaurant, in Playa Flamingo. He owns this small biodiesel reactor using the waste oil of the kitchen to make biodiesel! He runs 3 vehicles with it, and hasn’t bought diesel for ages! The process is really simple, and takes less than an hour per day.

Check this out!

Inspired by this initiative we will soon be having our own biodiesel reactor here at WRSC, recycling the local restaurants waste oil. FT's restaurant has already offered us our used cooking oil, and if you own a restaurant in town and want us to take your used cooking oil we will happily do so. This will take us further down the green path!

Witch's Rock Surf Shop Expansion Project

wwww.witchsrocksurfcamp.com/blog

As you can see from the video above, we are in the process of turning our current surf shop, reception area, and rental surfboard storage area into one single surf shop. This is such an exciting project, we're stoked!

Part of launching the new shop will be our Surfboard Demo Center. This will allow you, the traveling surfer, the opportunity to reserve your surfboard online as far in the future as you would like. Instead of paying $200 (or more) to bring your board and risk damaging it, pay only $100 and have a new rental waiting for you. its gonna be dope!

If you are a company wanting to place your product in the new shop, give us a jingle. If you have any ideas on how we can make the shop even cooler, let us know. We'll be cutting the ribbon at some point in July I think...
