Why leave your boards at home

Image
I was sitting on an airplane waiting to debark in LIR when the baggage truck rolled up and the airline guys started offloading the luggage. The window seat gave me a perfect vantage point to watch the guys work while waiting for the doors to open. First off: a short board bag, tossed onto one corner of the baggage cart. Ouch! Second off: a long board case, thrown on top of the short board. WTF? I wondered what kind of boards were in the bags, and whether or not their owners were bound for WRSC. Last time I shipped a board, packed with great care and lots of pipe insulation, bubble wrap and towels, it arrived with the nose smashed as though it had been shoved hard into a wall. I hoped these boards would fare better... Next item - a large suitcase, tossed on its side next to the surfboards. Another question came to my mind: were they going to leave those surfboards laying there while they filled the whole cart? Within three minutes I had my answer: Yes they were, and they were going to...

Why I Like Working Here

Image
I like working at Witch's Rock Surf Camp. Not because there are waves and Joe lets me use a board if they are good and my board is at home (though those things help) but because, for the most part, our guests are awesome. So now comes the big Thank You to Albert, Maya, Brendan, Lindy, Sean, Johnny, Mike, Julie, Chris and Jennifer. They helped make last week AWESOME. Here's a photo of some of them from July 4: Julie, Johnny, Albert, Lindy, Sean and Mike Thanks again for coming down and making sure that everyone (other guests and the staff) had a great week.

Surf Wedding

We here at Witch's Rock Surf Camp would love to extend big ups to the Gallaghers. Deb and Brian got married right out front of the camp last February. It was a casual cerimony followed by a bonfire. We here were honored that they thought of us for their big day and they were kind enough to let us share their wedding pics with you.

Seriously? Another post about Luis?

There are time times that is seems like we post a lot about Luis Castro. There is a reason for that. Last weekend (that of June 25th) he competed in the Gran Final CNS 2010. In plain English, the Grand Final for the National Circuit for Surfing down here. The dude came 3rd place. So, Felicidades Luis! If you are in Santa Teresa this weekend, you can see him compete for a $10,000 prize in the Luz de Vida Surf Challenge.
